Picking up a phone to check one thing can turn into opening a distracting app out of habit. Blob is designed to interrupt that moment with a math challenge before access to selected apps.

Users choose the apps they want to protect. When they encounter a gate, they can solve the problem for a short unlock pass or choose to walk away. Challenge options range from arithmetic to algebra and derivatives. Hard Hours make access more demanding during a chosen time window.

Blob’s animated mascot accompanies the experience. The app tracks interceptions, solved gates, walk-aways, and streaks. Time avoided is an estimate based on walk-aways and an assumed session length, not a direct measurement of time a person would otherwise have spent scrolling.
